date to be announced
Whether you have never fulfilled your longheld desire to write or are an experienced writer, writing in a group in response to an exercise can allow you to reach into your subconscious and produce work that will surprise and delight you.

In this workshop, you will learn to silence your inner critic and focus your attention on creating new work in either prose or poetry in a place of great natural beauty.
During the course of the week, we will read and discuss model poems and short prose pieces and use them as springboards for writing exercises to create our own poems and prose pieces during class. One exercise will also be given to work on after class and to bring to the next day’s session.

The workshop will include discussions of the form and content of poetry and prose, as well as how to make writing a part of your daily life. For an in-depth discussion of earlier work, you may bring up to 10 pages of poetry or 15 pages of prose for Carolyn to read in advance of a 30-minute private conference toward the end of the week.

Carolyn Miller is a book editor and writer who has published both poems and short stories and has taught college classes in creative writing. She has two full-length collections of poetry forthcoming in 2001 and 2002, and has worked with a group doing new-writing seminars for ten years.
